Baggys boys through to Semi Final of Devon Cup

Our U15s continued their defence of the Devon County Cup after they defeated Dawlish United 4-2 in last weekends quarter final. This means they advance to the semi final, where they meet Central Yth City in a repeat of last seasons final. Riley Crawford chipped in with a brace, whilst goals from Salop and Barrett ensured they would progress.

Unfortunately the story wasn't quite the same for our U18 side who lost 4-1 to Tavistock at Quarter Final stage. Adam MacPherson with the Villa goal.

Elsewhere in the DJM league the U16's suffered a blow losing to unbeaten league leaders Chaddlewood 2-0 as did our U13 girls, who lost 2-0 to Drake.

The U15 girls returned to winning ways with a fine 2-0 victory over Plymouth Marjon, Pollock and Leach with the goals for Villa.

The recent wet weather continued to decimate a high number of other Villa fixtures.

Weekend Round Up 12-13th February

Under 13s Progress into Devon Cup Quarter Finals

In somewhat atrocious conditions our Villa u13s side beat top league opposition AFC Plympton 1-0 to progress in to the hat for the quarter final of the County Cup. Oliver Sleight scoring the games decisive goal.

Saturdays action

Villa 16s beat close rivals Plymstock United 5-4 at Deans Cross. Goals from Coxon, Horne, Lear and the prolific Aaron Lockwood (2) decided the local derby.

U15s youth beat Tavistock away from home 2-1 to go level on points with leaders Plymouth Parkway in the Anson division.

The u12s dropped their first points of the season in a 2-2 draw away at 4th placed Horrabridge, Declan Hocking and Seb Clewer with the goals for Villa. Villa remain 3 points behind Saltash but with 4 games in hand on the leaders.

Finally, the Under 15 girls lost 8-2 at home to Signal Box who have lost only once this season. Abi Snell scoring both Villa goals.

Weekend Round Up - 5th Feb 2022

Under 18s

Elburton Villa U18 7 - 1 Torpoint Athletic U18

Villa came into this cup QF with a depleted squad for the second week in a row, with 5 of the squad still on the sidelines with injuries and 2 having to pull out late with work commitments. However, Villa started strong with 1st teamer Adam MacPherson showing composure to slot home after 4 minutes to put Villa 1-0 up. This was a theme that continued throughout the 1st half, with MacPherson adding to his tally another 4 times. Amongst MacPherson’s goal glut a rare defensive error saw Torpoint pounce to score what would be their only consolation goal of the game to make the score 5-1 at halftime.

An early injury to Will Hardiman in the first 10 minutes of the game meant that Villa played 80 minutes of the game with the bare XI players on what was by the 2nd half a very sticky and heavy pitch. The effects of which were reflected in a laboured and at times messy 2nd half. However, it was a half that Villa would win 2-0, one of which saw MacPherson score his 6th of the game finishing a well worked move from Ky Maloney’s cross from the right side.

The game was rounded off nicely by Jake Bouch (nephew of Villa Legend’s Tony) chesting down a Torpoint clearance and hammering home a dipping effort from 25 yards to leave the final score 7-1 to the home side.

Under 15s

Elburton Villa U15 2 - 1 Hunter District U15

Continuing the depleted theme our U15s pulled off a miraculous result beating 2nd in the league Hunter District despite only being able to field 10 men. With 4 regulars away at Argyle v Chelsea (one of which was our GK), the boys showed fantastic work rate and desire to come away with the points thanks to two goals from Alper Eroglu.

Under 15s Girls

Plympton Ath U15s 5 - 0 Elburton Villa U15s

Our U15s girls put up a spirited display despite coming away from Top of the League Plympton empty handed. However this was a much improved display against the team with a 100% record at the top and showed how much progress the girls are making compared to their earlier result.

Under 13s

Elburton Villa U13s 4 - 2 Manstow U13s

Our Under 13s also pulled off a result against all odds despite only fielding 9 players! The team have shown remarkable commitment to ensure their last two games have been played whilst missing several unavailable players.

Under 12s

Torpoint Ath U12s 2 - 3 Elburton Villa U12s

Villa u12s maintained their fantastic form with a solid 3-2 win away from home. Goals from Jimi Dawson, Seb Hocking and Zac Spencer keep Villa on track for a league title who have 4 games in hand on the leaders and are only 1 point behind.

Under 18s were beaten 2-0 away at Truro. Despite missing a few key players through injury and illness and having suffered 2 more injuries during the game the u18s had their chances. The woodwork and an inform Truro keeper keeping Villa out.

U16s beat bottom side Marjons away to keep themselves in the frame for a top 3 finish. Aaron Lockwood hitting a hattrick and further goals from Horne and Oshinyemi sealed the victory.

U15s girls secured their 1st win since November with a 1-0 win away to Plymouth Aspire. Abi Snell scoring for Villa.

U15s boys also won 1-0 away at Saltash in a close fought encounter as they look to chase down the leaders. Sam Travers with the all important goal.

U13s Youth avenged their early season defeat by the actual U13s winning 5-0 win (away).  However the (actual) u13s were also depleted by a number of unavailability issues and the scoreline doesn't tell the full story of the game. The older lads must be commended for getting a side together to fulfil the fixture. Goals from new signing Lucas Burch x 2, Tom Ashington, Caleb Lucas-Smith and an unfortunate own goal completing the score line.

u12s continued their 100% start to the season with a fine 6-0 win at home to Southgate. Dawson, Egan x 2, Pedro x 2, Gerde making up the scorers.
